Thanks for a great evening May 5th 2018 in Colchester. You were absolutely great & sounded like the real thing. We are both massive fans of Jeff Lynne & ELO's music & so enjoyed the evening. Well done to all of you. You must have worked very hard to achieve this & it has certainly paid off.

Thanks very much Sue & Peter, very kind of you to say. We had a fantastic evening, made even more special as it was our hometown 🙂
Dave lewis Dave lewis from Bedford wrote on February 24, 2018 at 12:21 pm
To the Corn Exchange Bedford last night for the ELO Encounter tribute band. Jeff Lynne and co’s often complex arrangements are not the most simple to replicate but this excellent tribute band had it well nailed. Lead singer and keyboard player Jack Rownes confidently took on the Lynne vocal part – while Jasmine Ali and Ezme on violin and cello added to the authenticity of the ELO sound. Early highlights included Evil Woman, Showdown, Ma Ma Belle ( Martin Donald on guitar firing out the Stones like riffs) Strange Magic and Don’t Bring Me Down - the latter featuring the strident drumming of Dacre Peck. It was also good to hear some lesser high profile ELO compositions such as 10538 Overture and Night Rider. In the second half, bassist Simon Rownes provided the soprano vocal to Rockaria - this was during a sequence of up-tempo crowd pleasing numbers that included Hold on Tight, Rock’ n’ Roll Is King and Roll Over Beethoven. On the home straight the big hitters Turn To Stone, Sweet Talkin’ Woman, The Diary Of Horace Wimp and Wild West Hero hit the mark. Violinist Jasmine also took on the Olivia Newton John vocal for an infectious delivery of Xanadu. A rousing finale of Last Train To London, All Over The World and Shine a Little Love had the crowd up and dancing - and an encore of Mr Blue Sky sent us all out into the cold night air with a warm glow. All in all this was a hugely enjoyable encounter with some of the finest pop music of a golden era. A highly recommended ELO experience –catch them when you can…

Went down to watch this ELO tribute band on Saturday evening 10th February 2018 - the group was really good - all very good musicians in their own right & sounded just like the real ELO - the venue was full & sold out so a packed house enjoyed a really good show - good value too at only £10 a ticket.
Admin Reply by: eloencounter
Thanks very much Colin for the review on Tripadvisor. Very glad you enjoyed the show and was fantastic to have a full house of people who enjoy the music of ELO 🙂

Good luck on the rest of your tour, and hopefully we will catch you again when you’re performing in the surrounding area again. Once again thank you. Sean & Belinda

Had an absolutely fantastic evening at the Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft on October 20th - went with family and frankly the show took me back to my youth when I would listen to ELO from my mothers continuous listening back in the '80's - awesome tribute to ELO - WELL DONE to you all 🙂

Wonderful introduction to your band last night at the Mill in Rayleigh. So glad Duncan, my pal, had your flier through his letterbox. So sorry however that Rayleigh wasn't more supportive in attendance numbers but it certainly didn't put you off from giving us a top notch show with a perfect sound balance for such a cavernous function room. Me, Duncan and Zoe thoroughly enjoyed it and will be spreading the word in our area. Looking forward to your next gig already. xxx

Thanks very much Neill for the kind words, very pleased you, Duncan & Zoe enjoyed it. We had a great time and see you soon hopefully 🙂

Took my dad (a life-long ELO fan) along to the show on Friday, and we both had a fantastic time. He had such a good time, in fact, that I had to keep elbowing him to stop him from singing along in his deafening way! I was really pleased that you played a few from the Time album; only other one I'd have liked to hear was Ticket to the Moon! Would definitely recommend the show, thank you very much for a wonderful evening!
Admin Reply by: eloencounter
Thanks for the kind words Becky, delighted you and your Dad enjoyed it. Think we heard your Dad singing 🙂 We normally do play Ticket to the Moon in the first half, had to skip it this time as we were worried Jack (aka Jeff) was going to loose his voice. He'd only just got it back after virus, and that song is a definite tester. It's one of our favourites and it's the first time we've not played it. Next time 🙂

Lynne and I were not dissapointed. The show at Barking tonight was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Will definitely go to see you again. Only downside was when Rockaria was performed no reference to Kelly Groucutts vocals was made.
Admin Reply by: eloencounter
Thanks Paul, pleased you and Lynne enjoyed it. You're right, we should really mention that Kelly sang that so brilliantly live, we will do next time.

Had a great night out at the Millfield Theatre in Enfield. Can't say how impressed I was with the quality of everything; great vocals (from everyone who had a go), well played instruments and effects and real strings. Loved every minute, going to keep my eye out and go and see you again. Hoping for Calling America next time though 😉 Keep up the great work!!
Admin Reply by: eloencounter
Thanks very much Richard, we had a great time too. Funny you should mention Calling America, it's the first of 7 new songs we are adding to the show in time for the 2018 tour. Hope to see you again before too long 🙂
Archie Archie from Norwich wrote on July 11, 2017 at 1:12 pm
Really impressed by the set at BURES, and very pleased to see you using some real strings as well. What would have made my evening....is at least a token musical acknowledgment to Roy Wood!
Admin Reply by: eloencounter
Thanks very much Archie, pleased you enjoyed it. In tribute to early ELO including Roy Wood we normally start the show with 10538 Overture, but for the festival we could only include all the most popular and upbeat tunes. In the full show we also have Ma-Ma-Ma Belle and Do Ya, harking back to the earlier works. We would love to add more Move songs to the show, and are considering a medley including California Man, Blackberry Way, Fire Brigade, Brontosaurus, etc, so watch this space. We share your appreciation of Roy Wood and the huge impact he has had 🙂

Wonderful show at Brentwood Theatre yesterday. I didn't realise how many ELO tunes I'd heard before. Each track sounded like the original as far as I could tell. I stood a few feet away from Jeff Lynn when he played with Idle Race at a school concert in the late 60s. Steve - the small techie.
Admin Reply by: eloencounter
Thanks very much Steve. So many great ELO songs and they are all there in people's memories, even if they haven't heard them in quite a while. Would have loved to have been at that school concert, that's a memory to treasure. Thanks for all your help on Sunday Steve, the whole band really appreciates it. Hope to see you again before too long 🙂

Being a big fan of ELO, I decided to check out the ELO Encounter when they played at the Alderman Blaxill School in Colchester, my home town. I have to say I was really impressed with their authentic sound. It was just like going to an actual ELO gig but with fewer people onstage to create that sound. They put on a great show with background screen shots and the lighting was very effective too. Any ELO fan should definitely get along to their gigs. Superb.
Admin Reply by: eloencounter
Thanks so much for coming along and hope you enjoyed yourself, that's what it's all about. Very pleased you thought the sound was authentic, that's definitely what we are striving for, trying to re-create the music as accurately as we possibly can.
